Arrival Arnold van der Lee.

Arnold van der Lee started on 30 april 2008 a sponsor biketour from De Rijp to Katmandu. Seva Network Foundation will double! the benefit of this action! Arnold left on 30 april and arrived on 4 october in Kathmandu, the Capitol of Nepal, where his dream became real! On Kingsroad he was welcomed by the head of the police and military. I could travel the last 10 kilometer of my dream trip escorted by them to the new refuge of People’s Trust.

Honoring to People’s Trust
Hallo everybody,
Your wonderfull reactions means a lot, thanks. On 4 october I had the official honoring. Dirk van de Wijngaard from People’s Trust had organized a complete ceremonial for me. I had to go with the packed bike to the former palace. There stood two TV-crews and the minister of finance, the highest police boss of Nepal, 1 motorized policeman and many other motoriders. After an interview I was distinguished by the police officer with a typical Nepalese hat (I forgot the name) and the Nepalese banner on my bike. I drove a little peace back as if I arrived in Kathmandu that day. All the camera’s were pointed at me and the police motorcycles in front. After that I had to cycle through Katmandu to the project of People’s Trust, about 10 km out of the city. The last kilometer was a path with rubble and pieces which mounted more than 12 %. They had to push me a bit because I couldn’t make it anymore. Out of breath and sodden of the sweat, I arrived. There was a honoring group of children in traditionnal clothes, there was a banner with: Welcome uncle Arnold van der Lee from Holland. I was honored with garlands, unbelievable, I was totally moved.
Inside the minister adressed me and I got a charter and a beautifull Shiva temple. The girls and children of the house performed dances and sang songs. In one word, it was unforgetable. “I am very impressed by the work of Dirk with his foundation and the many people who work for him, often free of charge! I have seen many good things and come to the conclusion that this foundation does very good work. Everything indicates that they work a lot with heart and soul. There are no expensive offices and from each euro, 94% goes effectively to the good cause. Many charities cannot match this! People support their work, I have seen this and it is grandiose!” I hope I succeeded in conveying the story.
